Educators talk about kids "Allstar books". This was my 2nd graders Allstar book. I was worried about the 3rd grade shift from learning to read to reading to learn next year. This book transitioned her to the impassioned reader I always hoped shed grow into. Probably shaped my kid's future academic career more than anything to this point. This book is great. Whenever I'm stumped for something new, and want to get out of our food rut, I open this book and always find something great.
Recipes are always a crowd pleaser, with compliments galore! Toss that Joy of Cooking and turn to this. Recipes aren't complicated and range from great Sea Bass to orange sorbet. YUM!

Did you ever find yourself wondering was it 3 minutes for 5 minutes for a softboiled egg? or what should I do with these chicken legs? Well this cook book answers this level of questions, and the answers are easy to find. Sorry if you are looking for fancy recipes with great pictures this isn't it. But for a reference for all the basic recipes this book is top notch, plus I really like the chicken country captain recipe.

Best One in the John MacArthur Pastor's Library

"Evangelism," written by the staff of Grace Community Church, is a great read for any person who wants to understand the believer's role in evangelism. The authors focus on theology first by giving the reader biblical knowledge to key doctrines essential in our role as ambassadors for Christ. The third section provides instruction on interacting with unbelievers.

One distinguishing characteristic to this book is it's emphasis on church. Two sections explain the churches role and how to evangelize. The first section focuses on the pulpit while the last section emphasizes how to reach different people found within the church and world (like children, youth, special needs, social outcasts, and those addicted to substances). This last section makes the book distinct and yet draws our attention to the role of the church in evangelism.

"The key to biblical evangelism is not strategy or technique. It is not primarily about style, methodology, or programs and pragmatics. The first and preeminent concern in all our evangelism efforts must be the gospel" (vii-ix). MacArthur and company focus on the message and our mandate to proclaim the "Good News" to the world.

Fantastic Book. I had a new perspective on the subject after reading this book!

I read this book as a task for my Sunday School Class discussion and was delighted by the way the subject is presented. I realized that I had a different perspective about evangelism and through this book, that shows us what the Word of God really means about evangelism, I could rethink my previous perception on the matter. The authors of the texts use the Bible as a definite source for their positions and we can use the references ourselves to further our knowledge and comprehension about what is being said. Pastor Macarthur wrote some of the articles in this book and as always is as clear and direct as no other author can these days. This is a must read for Christians to understand the proper definition of evangelism as something demanded by our God for us to be engaged on.

Over the years I have very much appreciated the scriptural teaching of John MacArthur. "Evangelism" is well written and very understandable. It gives very good guidelines as how to present a correct Gospel message.

My favorite book of 2013

Fantastic book! Bailey's ethnography of Ballroom in Detroit, illuminates the ways Black sexual marginals resist multiple forms of exclusion to create a new gender and sexual system and kinship through a dynamic form of cultural production. Read this book if you want to be challenged and inspired!

So I used this text in an Anthropology course, specifically to understand the experiences of those who are in the LGBTQ community. This text helped alot since it centered on the black LGBTQ community in Detroit. I never knew that in Detroit the culture was accommodating of gender variant individuals. As I soon found out, from watching the films Paris is Burning and The Aggressives, even though a community may appear accommodating of queers and transgender individuals power hierarchies exist within their own identities and categories. This was a good enthography to read as introduction into the world of the black LGBTQ community in Detroit. This would be a good text for most anthropology courses which focus on gender variant individuals. The book arrived on time however, due to its packaging the back spine was torn. However it was able to serve my purpose for my anthropology course and that's all that I needed. So I gave it three stars due to the packaging which resulted in a tear on the spine, however besides that the book came in good condition and was ready for use.

I am from Detroit and had no idea about the burgeoning Ballroom Community in the city, which speaks to the author's point. I love the critical analysis being brought to bear on the subject matter. The author effectively combines his personal voice and experience with an academic analysis.
