The Duties of Brotherhood is an excellent book of the great scholar and Sufi mystic Imam al Ghazali on the best behavior between people. The e-book does not contain a table of contents. To get around this, I went through the book and bookmarked each chapter. That is sufficient for a TOC for this brief book.

If you are thinking about putting together a business continuity or disaster recovery plan this book will save you weeks of work and prevent you from making certain costly mistakes. I have worked as a CIO and then CTO for 20 years. I wish that this book had been around when I wrote my first disaster recovery plan in 1992. There is no one size fits all checklist for this type of work but it is absolutely foolish to start with a blank sheet of paper. Start with this book, read everything you can find about best practices in your industry, talk to people, then write your plan. Walk through your plan. Test it against realistic scenarios like the recent hurricane Sandy. Now imagine that one morning the health department has sealed your office or some other critical facility. How will you proceed? Now you are the right track.

A Superb Textbook!

Death, Society, and the Human Experience is a wonderful textbook! I have been using it in my class The Sociology of Death and Dying for the past four years. This book provides the information necessary to any real understanding and examination of societal assumptions and attitudes toward death and dying. It not only enhances the knowledge of the student but provides the groundwork for new readers in the field. The book is a beautiful presentation of stimulating facts that will help everyone confront death and dying in a more personal and lasting manner.

Boring, schizophrenic, do not buy

Wow. This is a really boring textbook that merely rambles on and on without specificity. Much of what it talks about is talked about in a vacuum with random examples from all over the place. Kastenbaum is trying to talk about death in a way that is universal in structure and that is the first fallacy towards a boring text. This is old school structural-functionalist approach to writing about experience in the world.

Leave this book at the bookstore. Go for other texts.

About the Author
Angela Lewis holds a PhD in education and has worked in IT for many years as a provider of various learning programs to both the government and corporate sector.  She qualified as a counsellor a decade ago, and while not practising in this field has acted as IT Adviser to the Australian Counselling Association for the past 10 years and continues to write regularly for the Counselling Australia Journal on the intersection of society and technology, a topic which remains a personal area of interest.  


In the course of researching and then writing about how people expressed their sexuality, she found that community attitudes towards anything other than mainstream sexual practices remains deeply suspicious and judgemental. So began a 4 year project of gathering narratives and interviewing people who enjoyed a wide range of alternative sexual practices, resulting in her first book, My Other Self, the stories of ordinary folk quietly leading extraordinary private lives.

Hidden Lives & Parallel Realities!

Author Angela Lewis takes on a journey which is both strange and insightful, compiling stories from people from all walks of life whose sexual lives and individual paths alternately stimulate, shock and educate. Take a step into the not so ordinary lives of seemingly average folks, and be prepared to change your perceptions of "normal." Unreservedly Recommended!

Brilliant Read!

Angela Lewis has covered some subjects here, that few of us are game enough to even look at...
I am a pscyhology student - covering all things to do with interpersonal relationships - and this has been a total eye opener for me. Angela's sensitivity in each subject is astounding, giving you a first hand account in some 'fetishes' - without making any of her subjects 'differ' from you or me.

Reading this book, I found that rather than being repulsed by other people's fetishes, I understood, a little more. Sure.. some answers *for me* are not given, but I DO understand now, what other people desire, and why.

There is nothing wrong with a preference. We might like the smell of a man, we might like his arms, or legs.. some people just go that little bit further, and desire something we might not understand. Where is the wrong in that?

Angela has written a brilliant book - it may be embarrassing for you to read at first, but I bet you are curious!!! By the end, I found this to be a great topic of discussion!

I urge you to take a look. Explore the unexplained, be thrilled, be repulsed, be excited... it has all of that!!!

I felt so many different emotions.. I guess I should leave it at that :)) Maybe *I* have discovered something 'for me'.

A VERY DETAILED AND GOOD LOOK AT THE FETISH WORLD

Angela's book is a very detailed and fascinating look into the world of kinks and fetishes. A world that in some cases is very secretive and you would be surprised who all you know who have their special little kinks. She covers everything and provides interviews with people who participate in the variety of sexual fantasies, kinks and fetishes. She is very knowledgeable and took her time putting this book together. I personally was interviewed by Angela and her questions were ones that made sure she got all the correct information. This is a must for anyone that is already into something sexually different or for the person who is just curious. You never know u might find yourself turned on by something you had no clue about. FYI you can find me in the chapter on Financial Domination.
